Encore®: high quality, comfortable, versatile surgical gloves
Brussels, 17th March 2010 - Ansell Healthcare, a global leader in barrier protective solutions, is completing its offer of high-quality surgical gloves and introduces - next to the existing Gammex® range - a full and versatile range of premium surgical gloves for professional healthcare workers. The new Encore® Underglove and a synthetic Encore® Ultra will be offered alongside the four models previously available in Europe.
Shaped to reduce hand fatigue and ensure better instrument handling
Featuring unparalleled flexibility and comfort, Encore® gloves are specially shaped on anatomic curved formers to follow the hand's natural curves. Their shape reduces hand fatigue and stress, offering a more secure fit without bagginess. Beaded cuffs feature Ansell's SureFit TechnologyTM which prevents cuff roll-down and protects the integrity of the sterile field, providing surgeons, nurses and other healthcare professionals with superior protection during operating room procedures.
Special features ensure easy donning, and better grip and instrument handling. In addition, the manufacturing process guarantees low allergenicity.

Advanced technology ensures safe allergen levels
Encore® surgical gloves have very low protein content. This is a result of the lengthy leaching processes using the Protein and Endogenous Allergen Reduction Leaching (P.E.A.R.L) technology, and of repeated rinsing cycles. The gloves feature reduced chemical residues and thiuram- and MBT-free, skin-friendly formulations. As for all Ansell gloves, every single Encore® glove is tested for exdotoxins and pyrogens. In addition, the inner coating acts as a protective shield, reducing contact with potential latex allergens.
Two new Encore® surgical gloves completes state-of-the-art range
The newly launched Encore® Underglove with HydraSoft® Techology is a natural rubber latex, powder-free surgical glove offering exceptional dexterity, tactile sensitivity, outstanding strength and barrier protection when double-gloving is required. With an AQL of 1.0 and fingertip-thickness of only 0.19 mm, it has a very low allergen content of 30 μg/g or less of water/extractable protein per gram. The Encore® Underglove's thin design provides the soft comfort, fingertip sensitivity and tactility of a microsurgery glove, and can be used as a single glove.
Encore® Ultra is a powder-free surgical glove made of 100% latex-free, accelerator-free polychloroprene. It is intended for latex-sensitive (Type I) and chemical-sensitive (Type IV) healthcare professionals and patients. Its dark green colour makes non-latex identification easy. This glove offers enhanced tactile sensitivity in the fingertips and allows for easy and comfortable double gloving.
The two new gloves completes the existing range consisting of Encore® Acclaim (the best-selling powder-free latex glove known for its exceptional combination of strength and comfort), Encore® Style 85 (a rough-surfaced glove offering enhanced instrument grip), the Encore® MicrOptic (ideal for delicate procedures when more sensitivity is required, 20% thinner than a standard surgical glove) and Encore® Orthopaedic (a 0.330 mm thick, providing extra protection and resistance during more vigorous procedures).
