Glove producer draws attention to hand protection in the automotive world
BRUSSELS - YPRES, June 24th, 2010 – From June 24th till 26th Ansell, a global leader in barrier protective products, will be supporting the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy (FFST) team and Peugeot Sports Turkey teams during the famous Ypres rally in Belgium. The rally event is a highlight this year for Ansell’s High performance in Hand Protection programme, which the company started to raise awareness for the importance of hand protection in the automotive industry and the world of motor sports.
More than eight out of ten does not use hand protection
In spite of the risks, a staggering amount - over 85% - of the maintenance teams at regional rally championships do not wear protective gloves. Because they think donning gloves is a waste of time, gloves are ‘uncomfortable’ or simply ‘not cool enough’. Most garage-owners and mechanics outside the rallying circuit leave their hands unprotected as well. And if gloves are worn, then they often won’t be the most appropriate ones. Ansell is determined to turn that tide, by making the world of motorsports more familiar with hand protection as a whole, through its partnership with the two rally teams.
Ansell has been a well-established name with leading car manufacturers for many years now. Based on years of expertise and know-how, Ansell targets the automotive industry with dedicated solutions that protect workers’ hands from the risks - heat, paint, oils, sharp and abrasive objects, etc. – they are exposed to.
Ansell as rally partner
The Ypres rally is a new highlight in Ansell’s commitment to the world of rallying. This commitment fits perfectly in Ansell’s strategy to continually raise awareness, educate and help people choose the right hand protection. It offers Ansell the opportunity to support young talent as well.
Since 2007 Ansell is present in the world of rallying (www.ansellracing.eu) through its partnership with the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy (FFST) in Belgium. One of the main goals of Ansell’s support of the FFST team is to give young talent a jump-start towards success. FFST’s commitment towards training of the pilots plays an important role in that respect.
In 2010 Ansell takes a new step in the international rally sport through its partnership with the Peugeot Sports Turkey team, following the career of highly talented female driver Burcu Cetinkaya on her way to even more victories. Ansell’s partnership with Burcu Cetinkaya and her co-driver Cicek Guney started in 2008, when Burcu was racing in the Ford Fiesta Sporting Trophy.
During the Ypres rally, Ansell is proudly supporting – for the first time – two teams at the same time. The Peugeot 207 Super 2000 of the Peugeot Sports Turkey team and the Ford Fiesta R2’s of the FFST team are bearing the Ansell logo. In the FFST, talents including Cédric De Cecco will be competing this weekend. For Peugeot Sports Turkey, Burcu Cetinkaya and her co-driver are one of the two teams to be lining up for the IRC competition.
